Advocate for Transmedia Brandcasting
About World Colours Network Television: WCN is a Fashion, Music and Sports Lifestyle Channel
offering programming that supports our mission: “To Bridge the Gap Change Mindsets and
Transform Cultures through Love, Acceptance and Global Diversity programming. WCN will allow
viewers to purchase items seen without traditional commercial interruptions providing a new
paradigm for merchandising.
Hello, my name is Jay O’Conner and I am Chairman and CEO of World Colours Network Television.
WCNTV was born in April of 2002, after being inspired by the great industry of media. My
background is from Wall Street (don’t hold that against me) but I have been watching American
Television all my life. Television, to me, is in every fiber of my being. As a young child, I watched
as my ideas, decisions, hopes, desires, and aspirations where sparked from the images portrayed from
“Father Knows Best” to “The Cosby Show.” TV for me is very personal.
I became a technologist in Corporate America and watched the very first PC introduced to the world
and become one of the greatest innovations of today’s World Wide Web.
So, to be clear, WCNTV is a vision in the making for all people of the world. We use the word
“ColOURs” and not “Colors” because the word “ColOURs” includes the word OUR. WCN is OUR
Network and my gift to serve every aspect of the Entertainment Supply Chain.
While some might find my views a bit radical, I have studied this industry from the day I founded
WCN in Atlanta Georgia. I believe I have found a way for Advertisers, Content Owners, Producers,
Writers, Artists, and the creative community to access a portion of the 2.2 Trillion that will be spent in
Global Entertainment and Media, according to Price Waterhouse Coopers.
I love American TV History and through my studies have found that while there is abundance of
content and creators of said content, the channels for distribution are limited. As limited as the
commercial inventory a network sells each year at its Upfront Presentations each season.
My value proposition is simple. I have researched and found several companies that are entering into
the click and buy space for streaming video. Some are returning information for movie trailers, some
just starting out with incredible features which would allow an advertiser to have direct access to a
consumer and his buying desires, using New Media Social Brandcasting to reach targeted audiences.
While many are trying to examine and position themselves in the marketplace to become the emerging
leader in technology, WCN is setting an infrastructure for its execution in the global marketplace.
WCN simply wants to execute a new revenue stream gathered by this instant exchange by have
streaming content interactive for transactional purposes.
In the last five years I have knocked on doors and received more no’s than Lincoln running for the
Presidency. So while I love traditional broadcasting, submitting a project idea and getting it funded,
approved, produced, and aired has been a bit of a daunting task.
So we are trying to find like-minded people who are Digital Content Owners of Content in three major
categories: Music, Fashion, and Sports. As anyone knows who has attempted and succeeded in
starting a network, the hardest battle is filling a program schedule with quality content which is why
there is such a rerun problem.
What if there was a gateway for you, as an independent executive producer could self distribute by
cutting a deal with an Advertiser? Well since you aren’t a media sales person but a Producer; WCN is
building a sales team specifically to assist Content Owners and Advertisers to access this new revenue
stream that will be the standard within 5 to 10 years. We can already stream from our IPhones to our
Widescreen, while using APPLE REMOTE to change the channels.
The MSO’s could do this with their set top boxes sure, perhaps they might like to have a conversation.
I am an OPEN Marketer and therefore would love the opportunity to serve distributors, major studios,
and broadcast networks. The INTERNET and IPTV however provides a shopportunity for every
brand to be associated with anything visually seen on screen without tampering with the content.
So we can encode and map for Sex in the City so that women can point and click their way into any
designer’s couture or ready to wear equivalent.
This is why we charge a Set up Fee and have decided that rev share is the best way to insure that the
revenue from this isn’t stuck in the hands of the top 5% of the industry leaders only… That is not how
you save a country or create futures for our children.
I am passionate about America and keeping her competitive. We have lost ground in manufacturing
and the outsourcing of jobs due to piracy, and poor decisions from past administrations.
When brands like RCA, Zenith, Quasar, and others start going out of business and the associated jobs,
it is in my opinion that while the Hardware battle has been lost, the software or content battle belongs
to us for now.
With a 50 year head start on the rest of the world, we must lead the New Media Social Brandcasting
We are here to serve plain and simple and seek guidance and direction from professionals on Linkedin
to guide our collective futures as an industry.
We look forward to serving and making sure that quality content gets through to an audience that is
hungry for something new and innovative. Or we can just continue to charge high subscription fees for
access to reruns where we have more than 300 channels with mostly nothing new to watch.
If you are successful, part of the system, and getting paid from the major networks, we offer
congratulations. But for those of us who have approached the pearly gates of trying to get a project
green lighted and turned away, WCN may have an answer. Only time and your support will tell.
