There is no dispute that American Workers are under attack. After attending NAN’s 20th Anniversary Conference we heard the call from AFSCME‘S International Secretary-Treasurer, Lee Saunders and DC 37’s Executive Director, Lillian Roberts to stand up and be counted. Voter Registration Drives and the organization of Voters to drive back the attack against the Middle Class and Poor.
We must take a moment to Thank the Rev Al Sharpton and the entire team for leading and facilitating the discussion leading to Action Plans. President Obama, and many Cabinet Members have pledged an open government and have demonstrated that by their presence and commitment to Change in Washington.
Many incredible events took place during the conference from the resignation of NYC Schools Chancellor Cathie Black, (which caused dancing in the aisles at the Collective Bargaining Session at NAN) to the revelation that Comcast Begins Effort To Launch Ten New Independent Networks. Hispanic and African American Owned or Operated Channels to Highlight First Round of New Additions
Philadelphia, PA – April 4, 2011
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) today announced that it is taking the first steps to launch ten new independent channels over the next eight years, including eight that are Hispanic and African American owned or operated.
“Comcast is committed to providing opportunities for diverse businesses to expand and grow,” said David Jensen, Vice President of Content Acquisition for Comcast. “We look forward to considering a number of fresh and viable programming proposals from Hispanic and African American programmers to create new channels that will compliment the robust lineup of programming choices we already offer our customers.”
Of the ten new channels scheduled to be added, Comcast is now accepting proposals for the first three. One of the channels, which Comcast intends to launch by July 28, 2012, will be American Latino operated and programmed in English. The other two will be majority African American owned and will launch by January 28, 2013. Ultimately, each of the ten networks will be added on select Comcast systems as part of the D1 digital tier.
The commitment to launch ten new independently owned and operated networks over the next eight years is one of a series of public interest commitments made by Comcast in connection with the NBCUniversal transaction completed earlier this year. Of the ten channels, four will be majority African American owned, two will be majority Hispanic owned and two will be operated by American Latino programmers. These criteria were established based on several agreements Comcast entered into with leading diversity organizations.
In addition, Comcast recently announced it was expanding carriage of Mnet, the only 24/7 English-language nationwide television network in the U.S. targeting Asian Americans and fans of Asian pop culture, satisfying a commitment in its agreement with leaders of the Asian American community.

In my remarks at the meeting, I shared how the congregations are hurting as the squeeze on the Middle Class continues. I cannot think about the Collective Bargaining session and how Union Workers and Non Union Works must unite on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and every social media tool available.
To create a strong America, we have to have a strong Labor Force, for Churches to remain open we need multiple revenue streams coming into the households of all citizens. Lee Saunders and Lillian Roberts are right on the button with their leadership into Social Media and getting their message out across all platforms available. But what can you do? LETS EXAMINE THE KINGS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Two giants of the online world, the biggest social networking website Facebook and the biggest search engine Google are battling for being the number one site and also for being the most popular site in the world. Read on to know the statistics of Facebook vs. Google for 2011.
Since a long time, both Facebook and Google are the most visited websites. However, it is an interesting trend to check out the statistics of both. Facebook has more active daily users like no other social network has previous to it. In terms of sheer traffic, Google would still crush Facebook if all of sites counted together including sites like Blogger, YouTube, etc.
To give statistics for 2011, here is provided data from Alexa.com and compete.com. Alexa has still ranked Google.com as the number one site in the US and Facebook as the second most popular site. However, the statistics of 2011 will give you decent indication about the working of these sites.
In last 6 months, Facebook has reached 40% of the daily web traffic of all internet users across world, while Google has reached 47%, as per Alexa.
If we consider the daily pageviews, then Facebook and Google has same percent of daily pageviews till 2010 but little change was observed in January, 2011. At the end of February, both have the same percent of daily pageviews, as per Alexa.
On accounting the unique visitors of the site, Google is leading the Facebook with approximately 145 million visitors than 127 million visitors of Facebook, as per the compete.com.
Time on Site
Users spend less amount of time on Google compared to Facebook and this is clearly seen in the below graph.
In terms of visit per day, Facebook has crushed the Google. With 3.75 billion visits per day, Facebook is currently more frequently visited by users than Google, according to the compete.com.
At present, Facebook has a 31.3 “Buzz Score” vs. 39 for Google. These figures are counted on the basis of average positive scores (+100) with negative scores (-100). You can calculate the buzz score by dividing 200 by three to obtain the score of 66.7. If you take the reviews of three people two had a positive view about Google and the third didn’t.
A Google.com is the number one site on the internet while Facebook.com is on number two. Rankings of the Facebook are mostly strong but they are still far from Google. Remember that these listings don’t aggregate all sites of Google.
In terms of revenue, Google is superior to Facebook even if Facebook has more active daily users. The main reason behind this is Google ads that directly related to the keywords you are searching for. If you are searching in Google, it doesn’t matter whether your friends are searching with Google or not that means Google’s utility is remained unchanged to you. In terms of search engine, Facebook is much different from Google. In Facebook, the search results are based on “likes” that means it lets one user’s choice to affect another’s. Founded on interests and demographics, Facebook ads are a display model and have to presume what users will be interested in clicking on. Actually, Facebook gets worse at finding what users want and it is the greatest weakness of Facebook as a search engine.
